Pornography - my reaction
Well... I did not expect that. I was prepared for a strange play, after previously working on the play Pomona by Alistair MacDowell for my acting module but this is different. There was some information about the play that I knew that I didn't actually state in my previous blog post, one being that it wasn't actually about pornography (kind of obvious) and that it was about a terrorist attack in London (in 2005, not 2012 but England getting the Olympics gig was mentioned throughout). However this grotesque account of various London citizens and their daily lives around the time and actual day of the attack, the survivors, did not entice me or excite me when considering performance. I was instead repulsed and confused, especially in the final scene, the only scene I thought fit the subject matter that completely clashed with the rest of the play. Mentions of incest and teacher student fantasies made me struggle to find the tone of the play. A specific scene midway through also...
